Following a six-month peak in August, the Consumer Confidence Index experienced a setback in September, according to the latest report from The Conference Board. The index slipped to 98.7, down from an upwardly revised 105.6 in the previous month. This decline fell short of expectations, which had predicted a reading of 103.9.
