**Stellantis Sues UAW Over Strike Threats**

Auto Giant Takes Union to Court Over Alleged Contract Breach

In a dramatic escalation of a long-simmering dispute, Stellantis has filed a lawsuit against the United Auto Workers (UAW) and a California-based local chapter. The automaker claims the union is responsible for revenue losses and damages resulting from an unauthorized strike at its Los Angeles Parts Distribution Center.

According to an internal message to employees, Stellantis is seeking to hold both the international union and the local chapter liable for any losses incurred due to the strike. The company alleges that the union has breached its contractual obligations, which were agreed upon late last year.

The UAW, however, claims that Stellantis has failed to meet its own commitments under the contract, including cuts to plant production, worker layoffs, and delayed investments. The union has authorized a strike vote, which was approved by a supermajority of its members at the Los Angeles facility.

Stellantis argues that the contract allows for flexibility in response to market conditions and plant performance, but the UAW disputes this interpretation. The union’s president, Shawn Fain, has threatened to strike if necessary, while Stellantis maintains that such action would be unlawful.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California, aims to prevent and remedy the alleged breach of contract. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this high-stakes battle will impact the automotive industry and the thousands of workers involved.
