Server Maker Sees Surge in Demand for AI-Powered GPUs
Shares of Super Micro Computer skyrocketed on Monday, driven by the company’s impressive shipment of graphics processing units (GPUs) designed for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The server maker revealed that it had recently deployed a staggering 100,000 GPUs, equipped with its cutting-edge liquid cooling technology, to some of the world’s largest AI facilities.
According to CEO Charles Liang, top-tier data center operators are increasingly turning to Super Micro Computer’s innovative solutions to meet their technical and financial objectives. The company’s liquid cooling systems, in particular, have proven instrumental in helping AI firms reduce energy costs and enhance performance.
In addition to its existing offerings, Super Micro Computer unveiled a new range of direct liquid cooling products tailored specifically for servers. This move is expected to further bolster the company’s position in the rapidly growing AI market.
Investors responded enthusiastically to the news, sending Super Micro Computer’s shares soaring by over 13% to $46.77 in intraday trading. The company’s stock has now gained approximately two-thirds of its value since the start of the year.
Notably, shares of Nvidia, a key partner of Super Micro Computer and a leading AI chipmaker, also received a significant boost on Monday. Nvidia’s stock has more than doubled in value so far this year, reflecting the surging demand for AI-powered technologies.
