On the heels of a sluggish summer, entrepreneurs were anticipating a more pronounced rebound in confidence. However, the latest report from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) revealed a modest uptick in small business sentiment for September. The Optimism Index edged up to 91.5, a slight improvement from the previous month’s 91.2 reading. Despite this positive movement, the actual gain fell short of expert predictions, which had anticipated a more substantial increase.
