Mark Cuban Stands Up for American Autoworkers, Blasts Trump’s Insults
In a heated social media exchange, entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks part-owner Mark Cuban called out Donald Trump for disparaging American autoworkers. Trump’s comments, made during an interview at the Economic Club of Chicago, claimed that autoworkers in America were essentially just assembling car parts “out of a box” and that “we could have our child do it.”
A Misguided View of Modern Manufacturing
Cuban was quick to respond, tweeting that Trump’s comments were completely out of touch with the reality of modern manufacturing. “He still thinks it’s 1965,” Cuban said. “It’s obvious he has no idea what it takes to manufacture any advanced product, car or otherwise.” Cuban emphasized that Trump’s comments were not only misguided but also a direct insult to hardworking Americans who keep the industry going.
Defending American Workers
When former Trump advisor Stephen Miller jumped into the fray, attempting to defend the former president, Cuban shot back. Miller claimed that Cuban had been “hoaxed” by a “deceptively edited clip” and argued that Trump’s comments were directed at European car manufacturers, not American workers. Cuban countered, pointing out that the Mercedes plant in question is located in the USA and employs American workers. “He said a child could do the job of an American worker,” Cuban tweeted. “That’s an insult.”
A Pattern of Disrespect
Cuban’s criticism of Trump didn’t stop there. He also took aim at the former president’s behavior during the interview, calling it “awful.” According to Cuban, whenever Trump couldn’t answer a question, he insulted the interviewer instead. “Now THAT is something a child can do,” Cuban quipped.
Facts Over Fiction
To support his assertions, Cuban provided extensive information via Grok chatbot, citing Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI), the company that operates Mercedes-Benz activities in Alabama. The company has invested heavily in its factory near Vance, Alabama, which manufactures models like the GLE and GLS, as well as electric EQS and EQE SUVs. Mercedes-Benz employs its ‘One Man–One Engine’ philosophy at this plant for its AMG models, where a single technician hand-builds an engine from start to finish.
Respect for American Workers
Cuban’s message was clear: don’t accept Trump’s actions as usual, especially if doing so means disparaging hardworking Americans. He called on people like Stephen Miller not to excuse or justify the insults. “I know your guy insults hardworking Americans often, but don’t normalize this, Stephen,” Cuban tweeted.
A Track Record of Harm
Trump’s policies, such as tariffs on steel and aluminum, have been shown to damage the American auto sector, driving up costs and even resulting in plant closures. Despite his claims of promoting homegrown manufacturing, Trump’s actions have ultimately hurt the very industry he claims to support.
A Call to Action
Cuban’s stand against Trump’s insults serves as a reminder that American workers deserve respect and recognition for their skills and contributions. As the country moves forward, it’s essential to prioritize policies that promote growth, innovation, and fairness for all workers, rather than perpetuating harmful rhetoric and actions.
