“Trump Trades Jabs for Fries in Pennsylvania Campaign Stop”

Trump Serves Up Fries and Jabs at Harris in Pennsylvania

In a surprise move, former President Donald Trump donned a McDonald’s apron and served up French fries to drive-thru customers in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. However, the lighthearted moment was short-lived, as Trump quickly took aim at his election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

A Familiar Refrain

Trump repeated his unproven claim that Harris lied about working at McDonald’s in her twenties, saying, “I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala. She never worked here.” Harris has consistently denied the accusation. This was not the first time Trump has made this claim, and it is likely to be a recurring theme in the lead-up to the election.

A Crash Course in Fast Food

Before handing out orders to customers, Trump received a crash course in operating the fry cooker and working the drive-thru from McDonald’s employees. He joked that he might return to the job, saying, “I wouldn’t mind this job. I think I might come back and do it again.”

The Harris Campaign Fires Back

The Harris campaign was quick to respond to Trump’s stunt, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz writing on social media, “This guy spent decades stiffing workers pay, cut overtime benefits for millions of people, and opposed any effort to raise the minimum wage.” Walz added, “You know who has actually worked at McDonald’s, joined workers on picket lines, and fights for working people? @KamalaHarris.”

Courting the Labor Vote

Both campaigns are vying for the labor vote, with pledges to eliminate taxes on tips and secure endorsements from major unions. Harris has secured the endorsements of the United Auto Workers and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, among others.

A Key Battleground State

With just 16 days until the election, Trump’s McDonald’s appearance was part of a broader swing through Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. The state is crucial to both campaigns, and Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Lancaster later on Sunday, before attending the Pittsburgh Steelers football game against the New York Jets.
