Finding Freedom in a Slower Pace of Life
Kavi Vu’s story is one of rediscovery and liberation. Born in Vietnam, she fled to the United States with her family at the age of three, seeking refuge from the war-torn country. After spending 30 years in America, Vu decided to return to her native land, eager to escape the chaos and fast-paced lifestyle that had consumed her.
A Life of Constant Hustle
Growing up in the United States, Vu felt like an outsider. Her family struggled to make ends meet, and she was always aware of their refugee status. As she grew older, Vu became increasingly involved in politics, working as a freelance videographer on projects aimed at engaging minority voters. However, the constant pressure and stress took a toll on her mental health.
The Allure of Vietnam
In August 2023, Vu made the bold decision to leave the United States and return to Vietnam. She settled in Ho Chi Minh City, where she currently works as a freelance creative consultant and videographer. The slower pace of life has been a welcome change for Vu, who now enjoys a luxurious lifestyle at a fraction of the cost.
A Newfound Sense of Freedom
Vu’s apartment in the Bình Thạnh district offers stunning amenities, including community pools, a gym, and a spa. With a monthly rent of just $950, Vu feels like she’s living the high life. Her living expenses, including food and transportation, total around $1,500 per month – a far cry from the exorbitant costs of living in the United States.
Pursuing Passions
With more time on her hands, Vu has been able to pursue her passions for poetry and content creation. She documents her life in Vietnam on social media, showcasing the beauty and tranquility of her surroundings. Vu’s newfound sense of freedom has also allowed her to explore her family’s history and heritage, gaining a deeper understanding of her parents’ experiences.
A Life of Luxury
For Vu, the move back to Vietnam has been a game-changer. She no longer feels the need to constantly optimize her time or worry about paying bills. Instead, she can focus on enjoying life, savoring the moments, and pursuing her passions. As she puts it, “life feels slow” – and that’s exactly what she needed.
A New Chapter
Vu’s story serves as a reminder that sometimes, taking a step back and reassessing our priorities is necessary for growth. By embracing a slower pace of life, Vu has found a sense of freedom and liberation that eluded her in the United States. As she looks to the future, Vu is excited to see what this new chapter holds – and how she can continue to thrive in her adopted home.
