In a move that’s set to shake up the energy landscape, President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy, to lead the Department of Energy. Wright, a seasoned entrepreneur and technologist, brings a wealth of experience in various energy sectors, including nuclear, solar, geothermal, and oil and gas.
A Pioneer in American Energy Independence
Wright played a pivotal role in launching the American Shale Revolution, which has transformed the global energy markets and geopolitics. His appointment is seen as a nod to Trump’s vow to increase fossil fuel production and reduce energy costs.

However, Wright’s stance on climate change has raised eyebrows. In addition to his role at Liberty Energy, Wright serves on the board of Oklo, a nuclear power startup backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Oklo is developing micro reactors, a cutting-edge technology that could revolutionize the energy sector.
