Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX, has no intention of joining her boss Elon Musk on Mars anytime soon. “I think Elon wants to retire on Mars. I’m not interested in Mars,” she revealed at Baron Capital’s annual investment conference. While Shotwell may not be drawn to the red planet, her vision for SpaceX is nothing short of astronomical.

Shotwell’s goal is to make space travel accessible to everyone, not just the elite few. To achieve this, SpaceX is working on reducing the cost of space exploration through innovative technologies like rocket “catching” and relaunching. SpaceX’s Starlink internet network is already serving around 5 million customers, with a staggering 7,000 satellites in orbit. However, Shotwell identifies regulation as the major obstacle holding SpaceX and other tech companies back from achieving their full potential. “Technology is easy. Physics is easy.
