“Cracking Down on Government Waste: New Agency Targets Biden’s Spending Spree”

New Agency Targets Wasteful Spending in Government

The Department of Government Efficiency, led by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, is gearing up to tackle wasteful spending in the government. With a focus on transparency and accountability, Ramaswamy is already scrutinizing last-minute spending sprees authorized by the Biden administration.

Last-Minute Spending Spree Raises Concerns

Ramaswamy pointed to a recent $6.6 billion loan to EV maker Rivian Automotive as an example of questionable spending. He believes that the loan may not be paid back, and such deals deserve special scrutiny. Additionally, the U.S. Energy Department’s plan to loan up to $7.54 billion to a joint venture of Chrysler parent Stellantis and Samsung SDI for electric vehicle lithium-ion battery plants in Indiana is also under review.

A Breach of Fiduciary Duty?

Ramaswamy likened the Biden administration’s recent authorizations to a “fiduciary breach,” comparing it to a company’s CEO and CFO approving spending in their final days without proper oversight. He emphasized that such deals should be reviewed carefully, especially those made in the eleventh hour.

Prioritizing Efficiency and Accountability

With a limited timeframe of 18 months, Ramaswamy’s agency will focus on achieving early wins and building momentum to tackle government waste and fraud. While he resisted the idea of cherry-picking specific targets, he emphasized that time is of the essence in addressing these issues.

Electrifying Criticism

Rivian wasn’t the only EV-related topic under fire. Incoming Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno, a former car dealer, called the EV tax credits “catastrophically stupid.” The criticism highlights the need for a closer look at government spending and policies.

A New Era of Transparency and Accountability

As the Department of Government Efficiency prepares to take on its mission, Ramaswamy’s comments suggest a commitment to transparency and accountability. With a focus on prioritizing what’s most important, the agency aims to make a significant impact in a short amount of time.
