Holiday Cheer Arrives on Wall Street
The stock market’s festive season has begun, bringing with it a much-needed boost to investor sentiment. As the year draws to a close, the major indexes are making a push to reach new heights.
A Solid Start, But More Work to Be Done
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by approximately 15% this year, but it still has some ground to cover to reach its record high. Currently sitting at 43,297.03 points, it remains 3.8% shy of its December 4 peak of 45,014.04.
Other Indexes Closing In
The S&P 500 has enjoyed a remarkable year, surging nearly 27%. With only a 0.8% gap to bridge, it’s within striking distance of its December 6 closing high of 6,090.27. The Nasdaq Composite, meanwhile, has seen an impressive 33% gain this year and is just 0.7% away from its December 16 record close of 20,173.89.
A Season of Hope
As the holiday season unfolds, investors will be keeping a close eye on market performance. With the indexes making steady progress, there’s renewed optimism that they might just finish the year on a high note.
