Nvidia’s AI Dominance: A New Chapter of Unstoppable Growth
As the year comes to a close, Nvidia’s stock may be experiencing some turbulence, but experts and investors are convinced that the AI market leader is on the cusp of a new era of remarkable growth.
A Monopoly in the Making
Ross Gerber, president of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management, believes Nvidia is “printing money” like Apple did in the early days of the iPhone. With its leading-edge chips powering the rapid global buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure, Gerber sees Nvidia entering its “next leg” of growth. He notes that the company’s monopoly position in the chip business ensures a bright future for the next five years.
Retail Investors Flock to Nvidia
The excitement around Nvidia’s prospects is evident in retail investor inflows. According to Vanda Research, Nvidia has attracted a staggering $30 billion in retail investor inflows this year, making it the most popular stock among retail investors in 2024.
Short-Term Hiccups
However, some traders have opted to cash out this month, with shares of Nvidia up only 0.7% in the past month. Bank of America semiconductor analyst Vivek Arya attributes this to execution issues and concerns around China exposure. The switch to Nvidia’s Blackwell AI chip, hailed as its most powerful and innovative offering, hasn’t been seamless, causing unease among bulls.
Blackwell: The Game-Changer
Arya believes that Blackwell will rack up billions in sales in 2025, and its success will be a key catalyst for the stock. With sell-side analysts expecting Nvidia to increase net sales by $65 billion year over year in 2025, and earnings per share more than doubling, the future looks bright for the AI market leader.
The Foundation of AI
Wedbush tech analyst Dan Ives notes that Nvidia is “the only game in town” when it comes to AI. As the company prepares to unleash Blackwell into a market hungry for its offerings, investors would do well to hold on tight. With Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang set to take the stage at CES 2025, the stock could see a near-term catalyst. One thing is clear: Nvidia’s dominance in the AI market is only just beginning.
