With millions of programmers and home to tech giants like Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Infosys Ltd., India boasts one of the largest AI talent pools globally. This has attracted the attention of top CEOs, including Nvidia Corp.’s Jensen Huang and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.’s Lisa Su, who have visited the country in recent months.
Microsoft’s AI Ambitions
Under the leadership of CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft has been driving to commercialize AI. The company recently announced plans to invest $80 billion in building data centers, critical infrastructure for businesses to deploy AI systems and tools. Nadella, who hails from India, has made significant investments in his native country, employing over 23,000 people in cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Training the Next Generation of AI Professionals
Nadella has committed to providing AI training to 10 million people in India by 2030. This move is expected to fuel the country’s AI growth and provide a significant boost to Microsoft’s revenue.

Nadella’s meeting with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has garnered support for Microsoft’s expansion plans. Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s investment, saying he is “glad to know about Microsoft’s ambitious expansion and investment plans in India.”
