Trump Organization Unveils Sweeping Ethics Reforms Ahead of Inauguration

Trump Organization Unveils New Ethics Plan Amid Presidential Term

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, his business empire, the Trump Organization, has introduced a comprehensive ethics plan aimed at limiting his involvement in management decisions and ensuring transparency.

Limited Access to Financial Information

Under the new plan, Trump will have restricted access to the company’s financial data, receiving only general business updates. This move is designed to prevent any potential conflicts of interest and ensure that the President-elect’s decisions are not influenced by his business dealings.

Independent Management of Investments

Trump’s investments will be held in a trust controlled by his children and managed by external financial institutions. These institutions will make decisions independently, without input from Trump, to prevent any undue influence.

No New Foreign Deals

The Trump Organization has pledged not to enter into any new material transactions or contracts with foreign governments, except for ordinary course transactions. While the plan does not specify whether the company can engage in new business with private foreign entities, it marks a significant step towards transparency.

Donating Profits to the U.S. Treasury

As during Trump’s first term, the Trump Organization will donate profits from foreign governments at its hotels and similar businesses to the U.S. Treasury. Additionally, the company will offer discounted rates to members of the U.S. Secret Service and other government agencies that utilize its hospitality properties.

Appointing an Outside Ethics Advisor

The Trump Organization has appointed attorney William Burck as its new outside ethics advisor. Burck, the global co-chair of law firm Quinn Emanuel LLP, will provide guidance on ethical matters and ensure the company meets its legal and moral obligations.

Commitment to Transparency

Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, emphasized the company’s commitment to exceeding its legal and ethical obligations during his father’s presidency. The new ethics plan demonstrates the organization’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
