New Leadership at Chevron: A Strategic Move for the Future
Chevron, the U.S. oil giant, has made a significant appointment to its executive team, naming Laura Lane as its new Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Effective February 1, Lane will oversee government affairs, communications, and social investment activities, bringing her extensive experience to the role.
A Proven Leader with a Global Perspective
Lane joins Chevron from UPS, where she served as Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer. Her background in both the private and public sectors, combined with her leadership experience in complex global organizations, makes her an ideal fit for the position. According to CEO Michael Wirth, “Laura’s unique blend of skills and expertise will enable her to effectively lead Chevron’s global corporate affairs activities.”
A Pivotal Time for Chevron
Lane’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for the company, as it works to finalize its $53 billion acquisition of oil producer Hess. The deal has faced challenges, including a contract arbitration dispute with Exxon Mobil and CNOOC, Hess’ partners in a Guyana oil production joint venture. Wirth has been instrumental in bringing in fresh talent to revitalize Chevron, following the departure of several senior executives, including the heads of finance, human resources, and oil products and gas.
A New Era of Leadership at Chevron
With Lane on board, Chevron is poised to navigate the complex landscape of the energy industry with confidence. Her expertise will be invaluable in shaping the company’s government affairs, communications, and social investment strategies, as it continues to evolve and grow in a rapidly changing market.
