Pitt Ohio Revolutionizes Cross-Border Shipping with New Express Lane
In a move to streamline cross-border shipping, regional less-than-truckload carrier Pitt Ohio has launched a new express lane to six key border-crossing points in Texas. This strategic development is set to transform the way freight is moved between the United States and Mexico.
Consolidating Freight for Efficient Delivery
Pitt Ohio’s innovative approach involves consolidating freight at a terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio, before partnering with Averitt Express, a regional carrier based in Cookeville, Tennessee, for final-mile delivery to the Texas border cities of Laredo, El Paso, McAllen, Brownsville, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio. This operational setup is designed to reduce handling, minimizing the risk of damages, shortages, or lost freight.
Faster Transit Times and Enhanced Reliability
According to Geoff Muessig, Pitt Ohio’s chief marketing officer, this new express lane will provide faster transit times than those offered by national carriers. By dispatching directly to destination cities, Pitt Ohio is able to bypass the traditional hub and spoke system, resulting in improved efficiency and reliability.
Pitt Ohio’s Expanding Reach
With a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Northeast regions, Pitt Ohio continues to expand its services through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. The company recently closed on the acquisition of Midwest carrier Sutton Transport and boasts a workforce of over 3,400 employees, generating over $900 million in revenue last year. In addition to LTL services, Pitt Ohio offers a comprehensive suite of supply chain, warehousing, and logistics solutions, as well as ground and truckload transportation.
A New Era in Cross-Border Shipping
Pitt Ohio’s new express lane is poised to revolutionize the way goods are moved across the US-Mexico border, providing customers with faster, more reliable, and efficient shipping solutions. As the company continues to innovate and expand its services, it’s clear that Pitt Ohio is committed to staying at the forefront of the logistics industry.
