Lithium Refinery Breaks Ground in Oklahoma, Boosting US National Security
In a significant move to strengthen the country’s national security and supply chain, Stardust Power Inc., a leading chemical manufacturer, has commenced construction on its $1.2 billion lithium refinery in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to produce 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium annually, making it a critical player in the US’s clean energy landscape.
Strategic Location, Unparalleled Access
The 66-acre site at the Southside Industrial Park offers unparalleled access to the country’s largest inland waterway system, road and rail networks, and a skilled workforce with roots in the oil and gas sector. Additionally, the adjacent 40-acre parcel of land provides a prime opportunity for future expansion.
Job Creation and Economic Growth
The lithium refinery is expected to generate hundreds of jobs across engineering, manufacturing, and operations, with potential for hundreds more in construction and service roles. This investment will not only boost the local economy but also contribute to the nation’s transition to clean energy.
Phased Development for Maximum Efficiency
Stardust Power has planned a two-phase development strategy for the project. The first phase will focus on constructing a production line capable of producing up to 25,000 metric tons annually, followed by the addition of a second production line in the second phase, bringing the total annual capacity to 50,000 metric tons.
A New Era in US Mineral Manufacturing
According to CEO and founder Roshan Pujari, this refinery marks a significant step towards onshoring critical mineral manufacturing, addressing US national security and supply chain risks. As the country continues to shift towards clean energy, this facility will play a vital role in supporting the growth of the industry.
