Remote Work Opportunities Abound: Top Companies Hiring in 2025
Despite a decline in remote job listings, opportunities for work-from-home arrangements are still plentiful. According to FlexJobs, a leading platform for remote job seekers, the number of remote job listings increased by 20% in 2024, reaching levels last seen in 2022.
Growth in Remote Job Listings
FlexJobs analyzed over 60,000 companies that listed their openings on the site between January and December 2024. The results show that about 70% of listings are for intermediate or experienced-level jobs. While some industries, such as technology and finance, have reduced remote options to remain competitive, others are embracing the benefits of remote work, including cost savings and access to a geographically diverse talent pool.
High Earners Gain Leverage
Ladders, a career site for six-figure positions, reports that 10.4% of roles paying $250,000 or more were advertised as remote in the third quarter of 2024, up from 8.8% in the second quarter. This trend suggests that high earners are regaining leverage in negotiating flexible work arrangements.
Top Companies Hiring Remote Workers
The top 20 companies hiring for the most remote jobs in 2025, according to FlexJobs, include:
- In-Demand Roles: Product managers and software engineers are among the most sought-after remote positions, offering average salaries exceeding $100,000 in the U.S.
Remote Opportunities Beyond Tech
While tech remains a dominant industry for remote work, other fields are catching up. “Over the past year, we’ve seen significant growth in remote hiring across fields like business development and communications,” notes Toni Frana, lead career expert at FlexJobs. Marketing, accounting, and finance also saw over 30% growth in remote job opportunities in 2024.
Industry Trends
The most commonly represented industries among the top 20 companies hiring remote workers are tech, HR and recruiting, finance, and healthcare. While some companies are enforcing stricter return-to-office mandates, others are championing flexible work policies, arguing that employee autonomy is essential for future workplace success.
Shift in the Conversation
Frana predicts a shift in the conversation around return-to-office mandates in 2025, with organizations moving from enforcing in-office policies to experimenting with remote and hybrid work policies. This could open up more opportunities for remote job seekers in a crowded market.
