Airbus CEO Exudes Confidence in Meeting Ambitious Production Targets
As the aviation industry continues to soar, Airbus is gearing up to meet its ambitious goal of manufacturing 75 single-aisle aircraft per month by 2027. According to CEO Guillaume Faury, the company’s investment in its supply chain, strategic hiring, and meticulous planning have laid the groundwork for success.
Supply Chain Optimization Key to Success
Faury emphasized that Airbus is working closely with its suppliers to ensure a seamless production process. By doing so, the company can mitigate potential risks and overcome any hurdles that may arise. “We’re moving at the pace of our slowest supplier,” Faury explained, highlighting the importance of collaboration and contingency planning.
A Short-Term Blip on the Radar
Earlier this year, Airbus was forced to revise its annual delivery target from 800 to “around 770” aircraft due to a shortage of engines from CFM. However, Faury remains unfazed, attributing the issue to a short-term problem that will not impact the company’s long-term goals. “The CFM engine issues are not a concern for our rate 75 target,” he assured.
A Prudent Approach to Production
When asked about the possibility of increasing production beyond 75 aircraft per month, Faury indicated that this was not a priority for now. Instead, the company plans to maintain a steady production rate, ensuring that demand remains higher than supply for the foreseeable future. “We’re aiming for a prudent level of production that will allow us to meet demand while avoiding unnecessary risks,” he said.
Staying the Course
With Airbus on track to meet its production targets, Faury’s confidence is palpable. By focusing on its supply chain, investing in its people, and adopting a cautious approach to production, the company is poised to achieve its goals and maintain its position as a leading player in the aviation industry.
