This decision comes on the heels of reports that the company’s AI system had distorted news notifications, displaying inaccurate facts.

The issue affects only those using Apple’s beta software, not those with the main operating systems. News and entertainment apps, such as The New York Times, have begun displaying a message noting that AI-powered summaries are “temporarily unavailable.” This pause on one of Apple Intelligence’s core features underscores the difficulties the company faces in rolling out its AI technology.

An Apple representative stated that the company is working on software improvements, which will be released in a future update. Although no specific timeline has been given, based on Apple’s previous software release patterns, it could take weeks.
Stock Takes a Hit
The decision to pause AI summaries comes on the same day Apple’s stock closed down 4%, marking its worst trading day since August 5. Notable Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s comments on Monday may have contributed to the drop, as he suggested that Apple Intelligence has not boosted iPhone sales.
