Sustainable Cotton Production Takes a Giant Leap Forward
Certification Milestone Achieved
In a significant breakthrough, the Interloop Kapas project has received certification from Control Union Sri Lanka, marking the culmination of a three-year collaborative effort with 1,000 farmer partners. This remarkable achievement spans 5,090 acres, yielding 7,000 bales of organic cotton.
Fostering Environmental Stewardship and Socio-Economic Growth
This pioneering initiative not only promotes environmental sustainability but also empowers local farmers with the necessary skills and digital tools to enhance farm productivity and soil vitality. By providing access to high-value markets, the project strengthens the socio-economic fabric of the community.
Building Resilient Supply Chains
According to Interloop CEO Navid Fazil, “This certification validates our approach to building resilient, transparent supply chains, where our farmers thrive amid shifting global standards.” The Interloop Organic Kapas (ILOK) Project is dedicated to improving farmer wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
Advancing Organic Cotton Availability and Digital Traceability
The project focuses on increasing the availability of organic cotton while developing the skills of female cotton pickers in optimal harvesting techniques to reduce contamination. This certification follows the project’s successful securing of InConversion Organic cotton (IC1) certification from Control Union Sri Lanka in 2023.
Ensuring Supply Chain Integrity
The IC1 certification guarantees the integrity of the organic material from farm to final product, ensuring thorough audits at each stage of the supply chain.
Sustainable Materials Portfolio
Looking ahead, Interloop aims to source 70% of its materials from sustainable origins by 2025. The company’s portfolio of sustainable materials includes BCI cotton, organic cotton, recycled cotton, recycled polyester, and recycled nylon.
Commitment to Community Development
Interloop has also inaugurated its third mobile health clinic in Punjab, impacting over 35,000 individuals, with a focus on improving healthcare services for women and children in rural agricultural communities.
Innovative Solutions for Supply Chain Transparency
Interloop’s Looptrace, a traceability platform, monitors the activities of 42,000 farmers, providing transparency throughout the supply chain. The Loopkisan, an advanced agricultural management application, facilitates direct data entry and provides instantaneous insights into farming methodologies, further enhancing transparency when integrated with Looptrace.
Recognition for Sustainable Efforts
Last month, Interloop’s Socklab was honored with the Best Product award in the Accessories category at ISPO TEXTRENDS for the Fall/Winter 2026/2027 season, recognizing the company’s commitment to sustainability.
